In the recognition portion of Tuesday’s Sikeston R-6 Board of Education meeting, the district’s Standout Students, Academic All-State athletes and two female wrestlers were acknowledged by the Board.

Sikeston Kindergarten and Early Childhood Center students Da’King Baker, kindergartner, and Hunter Kelley, preschooler, were recognized as the district’s Standout Students of the Month.

SHS football players Trey Scott, Dylan Thornbrough, Dakwan Tilson and Jonathan Green were recognized by the Board as Academic All-State athletes by the Missouri Football Coaches Association. To qualify for this award, student athletes must meet the following criteria: be a starter on offense or defense or a punter or kicker for 70% of games; must be a sophomore, junior or senior; score a 25 or higher on ACT; maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher; and must rank in top 20% of their class. SHS football player CJ Posey was also recognized last month for the honor.

Two high school students, Kate Grubbs and Lila Eckert, were acknowledged for each recently winning their 100th match as a Sikeston Bulldog wrestler.
